“I love painting clothes made of wool or tweed, so I had to reproduce ‘The Duke’ – John Wayne here, dressed at his best in one of my favourite films – The Quiet Man. 

It was filmed in an era when Hollywood stars managed to project a seamless blend of glamour, masculinity and heroics. 

Albeit with some shocking lapses in political correctness!"
