The Joke
I grew up in a large family with lots of aunts and cousins, however I rarely saw my Uncle's except at larger family gatherings. They were primarily mill workers - cotton, paper and paint. The Uncles talked over their beer about a world we were all destined to enter when we grew up. There was a lot of laughing and teasing, but they could also be slightly intimidating. Their world seemed to be about surviving, usually by humour, in a harsh world they were otherwise helpless in.
